ARKANSAS PEAKS WITH NEW US$33 MILLION
LODGE AT MOUNT MAGAZINE

The US State of Arkansas has unveiled its most spectacular accommodation with the opening of a new $33 million lodge at Mount Magazine State Park, just a two-hour drive from the State capital and primary gateway city Little Rock.

Set on scenic Mount Magazine, which at 2,753-foot is Arkansas’ highest mountain, the property features 60 rooms and 13 cabins all boasting breathtaking views of Petit Jean River Valley and Blue Mountain Lake.

Guests can enjoy the privacy of a one, two or three-bedroom cabin built in a rustic 1930s style with exposed wood beams. Sleeping between two and six people, each cabin is fully equipped with a kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, washer and dryer, high speed Internet connection, satellite television, and a covered deck with an outdoor hot tub offering panoramic vistas of the region’s river valleys and deep canyons.

Alternatively, the grand main lodge has a further 40 guest rooms featuring balconies with 17 offering spa tubs, and four suites, all perfectly combining comfort and style. Other facilities at the lodge include an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, games room and the Skycrest Restaurant dishing up fine Southern cuisine.

A wide variety of outdoor activities are available in the state park and surrounding Ozark National Forest. From the vicinity of the lodge, guests can enjoy hiking, hang gliding, horseriding, boating, rock climbing, bird-watching, fishing, and geocaching - the high-tech version of treasure hunting.

With the chance to spot black bears, wild turkey, and an abundance of butterflies, Mount Magazine is ideal for nature enthusiasts.

Arkansas State Parks were granted a special use permit from the USDA Forest Service in 1996 to develop this state park on 2,234 acres in the Magazine District of the Ozark National Forest atop Mount Magazine. Mount Magazine is one of 52 Arkansas state parks, five of which feature state-run lodges.

Lodge rates start from $79 (around £44) while the cabins cost from $149 (£82) a night.

Complete North America offers flights to Little Rock in Arkansas from £479 per person with Delta Airlines. For reservations call 0115 9504555 or visit www.completenorthamerica.com.
